wood flooring
We have a great selection of Engineered wood floorings in our showroom, with various sample boards available to take away at any point we have all aspects covered.
Engineered flooring is layers of hardwood and ply board sandwiched together via a heating and pressing process. The top layer is veneer of hardwood 1/6” to 1/8” thick. Beneath that veneer is a core of plywood, with each ply lying perpendicular to give the flooring strength and stability, this makes the flooring less open to expansion and contraction.
Wood Types:
Solid Wood, as the name suggests is a solid piece of wood sawn from a log. The generic thickness is ¾” but there are homes that if pre dating 1850 can be much thicker. The boards can have either a square edge, which creates a smooth surface with no gaps from board to board or a bevelled edge with groove between the boards giving them a more rustic feature. Engineered wood is slightly easier than solid wood as you have various installation methods, including stapling, nailing, fold and lock and glue. Solid Wood installation is nailed or fully glued.
